The Santa Fe Indian Market

Part-time Santa Fe, New Mexico, resident Angela Martin is the former owner of santafeart.com, an online marketplace for fine art sales. Though she no longer manages the page, Angela Martin is still active in the community as a board member for Creative Santa Fe and an enthusiast of the local art scene.

Santa Fe is highly regarded for its arts scene, which attracts many visitors annually. One of the most popular draws is the Santa Fe Indian Market, the largest Native American art market, held the third weekend of August each year. The market was established in 1922, showcasing more than 3,500 works, which included jewelry, baskets, wooden carvings, drums, and more. Today, visitors to the market can find 1,000 artists representing more than 100 Native American tribes collected on the Santa Fe Plaza.

In addition to the art, the Santa Fe Indian Market also features food booths for native treats, including Navajo tacos, roasted corn, and fry bread, as well as a Native American clothing contest, Native Cinema Showcase, and storytelling, music, and dance performances.
